PASSING PERFORMANCE™ Teaches Students How To Take Control Over Their Emotions,
Rather Than Have Their Emotions Control Them
When your brain is doing a task inside the quadrant of your brain strength, a green light turns on and your brain, enthusiasm and energy is ignited. Research shows that the brain manifests increased plasticity and the largest growth when presented with frustrations and challenges that stretch the mind. Therefore, age appropriate developmental challenges and engaging some frustration in the brain areas of less preference are essential for learning, wellness and growth.
However, when emotions such as anger, worry, panic, fear, helplessness, hopelessness and overwhelm dominate the psyche, this “triggers” the mind and the physiological body into automatically reacting in a “freeze, flight or fight” response. When this reaction happens in the body, the mind literally can no longer think clearly or rationally because the whole system has jumped into self preservation mode, as if it were being confronted with a life threatening situation.
When the brain is asked to do a task outside one’s strength quadrant, a red light goes on which can trigger this “freeze, flight or fight” response and the brain literally starts to shut off. In the case of “performance anxiety” and “test stress,” the student “perceives” the given task as an overwhelming threat to their well being, a red light goes on and the rational thinking brain shuts down.

When your child starts to feel the anxiety reactions building in their body and their mind going blank, he may adopt a self perception of "invisible disability" which can impair confidence and self esteem throughout his academic education. This believe that something is wrong with them or that they are inadequate, can cause major changes in attitude, mood and behavior and can lead a child into disruptive or overactive behavior in the classroom, outbursts, fatigue, avoidance of school, emotional withdrawal and other depressive symptoms.

PASSING PERFORMANCE™ for adolescents and teens, teaches students how to take control over their emotions, rather than have their emotions control them, so they can better focus, learn, improve memory and brain function and perform their best in school. The Self-regulation skills they learn gives them new confidence, Self worth, esteem and improves sociability.

In an intervention test conducted with sixteen 3rd, 4th and 5th grade elementary school students, researchers found the highest level of test anxiety was around fear that, "You start the test and read the first question. You do not know the answer immediately."
When effective stress reduction skills were introduced and practiced during this intervention, teachers saw improved test scores in reading from 50% to 75% pass rate and in mathematics from 67% to 94% pass rate. These students reported “less stress and worry about future testing situations, while parents and teachers observed and reported a reduction in stress-reaction behaviors.” References available upon request.
